• How to Book: The discount is automatically applied to seats that are on sale.

• Travel Criteria: Valid exclusively for select Air Canada operated flights within North America scheduled before the end of March. 📅 

• Seat Options: This discount can apply to Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class seats. However, there is limited inventory that is actually discounted.

80% Aeroplan Bonus Points Purchasing Promotion:

• Promotion Timeframe: Available up to Oct. 3rd.

• Purchase Details: To get this offer, a minimum purchase of 30,000 points is required (includes 24,000 bonus points) at a cost of $1,050 CAD.

• Warning: I only recommend buying points if you have found the seats you want to book on points and have made the comparison that it’s cheaper than paying in cash! Finding discounted points seats can be challenging.

How to Score 50% Off Cash Prices For Lie-Flat Business Class

Here is an example on how you could buy points and redeem on a 25% off fare to save big on flying business class compared to the cash price.

  • Make sure to double-check the seating layout before booking. These flights are on typically on Air Canada’s Boeing 787 which does feature lie-flat seats.

• If you check Google Flights the cheapest Calgary - Montreal in Air Canada’s Business Class is about $2,000 (and most dates are closer to $2,500 round trip)

  • I verified the above flights are currently scheduled to have lie-flat seats on a Boeing 787.

• Price in Cash by Using Points:

  • If we buy 54,000 Aeroplan points for $1,050 CAD and use 40,000 points to book the above flights that is the equivalent of using $778 of our $1,050 points purchase. We will also pay $45 in fees outbound and $49 in fees inbound.

  • In total that $778 + $45 + $49 = $872 CAD

• Finale: Ta da! Instead of paying over $2,000 in cash to fly round trip in Air Canada’s business class from Calgary to Montreal we paid the equivalent of $872 to buy points and redeem on the exact same flights.

• Availability: The downside if this strategy is that availability is limited and it can be hard to find these redemptions. However, if you can make it work you can find tremendous savings on business class redemptions!

• Other Routes: This strategy can be used to book lie-flat seats on other routes like Toronto - Vancouver, Toronto - Los Angeles, Vancouver - Montreal and more! Just be sure to check the plane type or use the “Preview Seat” button to verify the seating arrangement as the type of airplane flying these routes do vary.

I don’t usually feature low-cost carrier deals (Flair, Swoop, and Lynx) as they do hide a lot of their costs in extra fees. Keep in mind if you book on a Flair or Swoop you will be paying extra for any baggage (except for a personal item).
