Heads up, travelers! WestJet is currently advertising a "deal" to purchase WestJet dollars, similar to Air Canada's recent promotion. However, upon close inspection, this deal might not be as enticing as it first appears.

The crux of the matter lies in the redemption system of WestJet dollars. Simply put, 1 WestJet dollar equals 1 dollar off your fare, a straight-forward and flat redemption rate.

The twist here is that the promotional offer expects you to shell out at least $1.20 for every WestJet dollar. In simple math, this doesn't add up in the traveler's favor.

Therefore, as much as we love a good deal, this particular promotion doesn't seem to deliver on the value front. Be sure to scrutinize such offers carefully before you invest your hard-earned money.
